Body painting by professional body painter SyFer, combined with photo compositing by Ian Trayner creates stunning wall art. Body painting photo shoots make truly unique gifts. They are not for everyone, but they make an exceptional gift experience for adventurous women or men. The photographic wall art is extremely impressive and will last more than a lifetime.
I often use compositing to create realistic images and imaginative poster art. Obviously this is of great interest to cos players, because it means I can shoot them in the studio and insert them into virtually any environment.
However compositing is not just for cos players. For example you may want to insert your football crazy son into a football stadium (see the example in the gallery).
The principle of compositing is very simple. You just combine several different photos into one final image. However a certain degree of skill may be required, depending on whether you want to create an “artistic poster effect” or a final image that looks like a real photograph. To do the latter convincingly requires skill and planning.
Most important of all is consistency with lighting. It must appear that the person in the photo is lit by the same light as the background image (see the example of the boy in the football stadium). The relative position and size of the subject has to be correct, so ideally both the image and background should be photographed with a similar focal length lens – although there is some leeway here, depending on the circumstances.
In any case when I am shooting images for composites I like to plan ahead carefully. Usually I shoot with specific background images in mind. Then I light and shoot my model for those images.
Sometimes I use my own photographs as background images, but I also buy background images from stock libraries. This massively increases what can be achieved. For example the background image for the “ice angel” photo was purchased from a stock library (see the gallery). I have never been in an arctic environment like that!
Body painting is an option for discerning customers who want to create photographic art that is visually stunning, and truly unique to you.
Body painting photo shoots are an experience in their own right. The experience starts at the planning stage. We will consult extensively and come up with a plan you like.
Prices start at £400 and you need to allow an entire day for the process. The body painting takes up to 4 hours, then there is the photo shoot, followed by a shower to remove the paint.
I work with an experienced professional female body painter. Your modesty will be protected at all times by wearing plastic pants and nipple covers. It is part of my job to make any seams and joins “invisible” in post production.
