Family portrait photoshoots outdoors

You can hire me for family portrait photoshoots in my studio, at local outdoor locations, or in your home/garden. We can talk through the options and decide which is best when you book your photoshoot.

Christmas gifts and taking advantage of autumn colours

(The photos here were taken in November 2022)

I was approached by three sisters who wished to give their mother a framed picture of themselves for Christmas. We wanted to book the shoot when the trees were filled with autumn colours. That presented a small problem because (a) we didn’t know when the trees would be at their best, and (b) the three sisters didn’t have many dates when they were all free. Nevertheless we set a date and hoped for the best.

Selecting clothes in tune with autumn colours

A professional photoshoot is an investment in time and money, so it is always important to stack the odds in your favour – to the extent that is possible. After discussing how to approach the shoot, we decided the sisters would wear clothes that would blend nicely with autumn colours. The aim was not to make them match exactly, but to choose colours that would blend nicely.

Shooting in all weathers?

I am able to take photos in the rain, however usually I try to shoot on dry days. This isn’t only for my convenience! I want my photoshoots to be enjoyable and memorable events for my clients, and as yet all clients have expressed a preference to avoid shooting on rainy days. Having said which sometimes it isn’t possible to change dates.

You can’t really see it in these images, but there was a very fine drizzle falling when we took these photos. My camera and lights were covered with plastic to keep them dry.

Photoshoots make excellent and unusual Christmas gifts!

Photoshoots make unusual and genuinely unique gifts at Christmas and other special occasions. The aim might be to create wonderful and meaningful wall art, as in the shoot described in this post. Or you might want to give someone a photoshoot as a present. Typically when you buy a photoshoot togive to someone else, you will buy a shoot that includes a wall picture or some digital files. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you want to find out more.

How to select the right size of picture to buy?

When you come to my studio for your viewing session it can be hard to decide what is the best size of wall picture to buy. Fortunately I have some software that will help you choose the right size of picture.  All I need is a photo of your wall, including something of known size to calibrate my software. Then I can make digital mock-ups so you can see what your picture will look like at different sizes, and using different frames. This service is greatly appreciated by my clients.
