My photo shoots
I am unlike most family photographers
The principle aim of most family photographers is to maximise their profit. That is to say they want their “number of clients” multiplied by their “average sale” to give the best profit they can. And there is nothing wrong with that. I am sure many of them give good customer satisfaction and enjoy their jobs too.
I am “semi-retired” and I like to work at a calm pace. I value client satisfaction as much as I value the profit at the end. So I have the luxury of catering for clients who are not in a hurry, and want a little bit more from their photo shoots. What I will give you is my time and my attention. I will listen to you, and together we will plan your shoot.
I pride myself on finding out what my clients actually want to end up with, and then helping them get that, to the best of my ability.
If you don’t know what you want to end up with, don’t worry! Most of my clients don’t have a clear idea of what they want at first. They may have some ideas based on what they have seen on their friends walls, but they don’t know all the options that are available to them. My job is help you understand what your options are. This applies both to the style of photography, and the final photographic products you will hang on your walls.
My photo shoots are custom designed for you
All my shoots are bespoke. That is to say they are custom designed for each client. That means once you have paid your booking fee (non refundable) you can claim your pre-shoot consultation.
Usually this means coming to my studio. We will sit down (perhaps over a coffee) and talk through what you want. We will probably look at some pictures (you can bring some that inspire you), and hopefully get a general idea of what you want to end up with.
Then I will plan your photo shoot accordingly.
"Pre-shoot consulations" are not obligatory, but I strongly recommend you take advantage of this service. This enables me to plan your photo shoot just for you.
Pregnant mums, or mothers with young babies usually prefer to do these consultations without coming to the studio. So we talk on the phone and likely exchange a few e-mails.
“No rush” photo shoots
I never do more than one photo shoot in a day, and I allow plenty of time. The amount of time needed depends on the complexity of the shoot, where it is located, and what we wish to achieve.
For some clients, the experience of the photo shoot is a thing in itself. “Model experience” and “fantasy” photo shoots are particularly suited to clients who really want to enjoy a special and unusual experience. You can become a model for one day. You will be pampered by a make up artist so that you look your very best. Then you will be in front of the camera and lights! If you want to bring your own music you are very welcome to do that.
How long will your photo shoot last?
There can be many valid reasons for not wanting to spend more time on a photo shoot than you have to. For example, if you have a hectic lifestyle and find it difficult to make time, we can design a fast and efficient shoot that will get you the images you need.
In general females (of all ages) are more into photography than males. Women tend to be more excited by having their own profesional photo shoot than men. Usually men tend to be less enthusiastic, although there are some exceptions. So sometimes the men "get dragged" to a photo shoot without being all that keen!
My job is to find a balance that is good for everyone.
However, if you are looking for a fast photo shoot to “get the job done”, you should probably look elsewhere.
If you are worried about time, give me a ring. I should be able to give you some idea of how long a photo shoot will take when you tell me what you need.
