Terms and conditions (and recommendations)
Your pre-shoot consultation
I strongly recommend all clients take advantage of the optional pre-shoot consultation. It is included in the booking fee.
Your photo shoot
Please note the booking fee is non-refundable, and you won't get it back if you don't show up for your photo shoot. If you need to reschedule of course that is OK, but please give me at least 24 hours notice.
Unless agreed otherwise, all viewings will take place in my studio. This is when you decide what products you want to purchase.
I recommend young children are not brought to viewings if possible. They will probably get bored and become a distraction.
Please make sure all decision makers (including the person who is going to pay) come to the viewing. This is extremely important, because viewings take time, and if it is necessary to book another session because a key person is absent, I will charge ￡100 for a second viewing session.
Usually most of the photos you see will be “finished and ready for sale”. But in some cases additional retouching may be required. I will discuss this with you on a case-by-case basis. In general I arrange my photo shoots so that appropriate retouching is included. However I reserve the right to charge extra if significant changes to the digital image are requested.
Optimising your investment
By the time we get to your viewing session, you have already invested a significant amount of time and money in creating these photographs.
- How do you want them to be displayed (Wall art? Album? Both?)
- How do you want to maximise the impact of your investment?
- In what form do you want your images to be preserved for years to come?
It is at your viewing that these decisions need to be made. I will help by showing you samples of my products, and by discussing your options. However the final decision must be yours.
My aim is not to sell you the most expensive products I can. My aim is to help you decide which products are appropriate, and will fit well in your home.
Payment needs to be made in full at the time of ordering so it is very important that the person who is paying is present at the viewing. In all cases, payment in full must be made before delivery of any products.
For clients ordering an album, I will go through the various options at the time of ordering, so you can choose your preferences (eg page size, number of pages, etc). After I have designed your album, I will make a digital proof available for you to inspect. At this time you can make one edit (meaning a range of changes). This will be your only opportunity to make changes.
In the unlikely event a customer changes their mind after the initial order has been made, the customer is liable to a 30% cancellation fee. If the order, or part of the order, has already been sent to the lab, no refund can be given.
Unless otherwise agreed, customers should collect their puchases from my photo studio.
The photographer (Ian Trayner) will at all times own the copyright of his photographs. Any kind of copying or reproduction of the photographs is forbidden without express written permission from the photographer. Please note that any unauthorised copying or printing is copyright theft. This comes under criminal law in the UK.
I do not sell high resolution digital files, but I do give my clients low resolution digital files of any photographs that they have bought in a product (eg as wall art or in a photo book) with permission for these low resolution to be shared (eg on the internet).
Please note I retain the right to use and publish my own photographs. However I do not wish to embarrass shy clients, so if you prefer that I don't use or publish your images, please tell me, and I will be happy to oblige.
Still not sure?
If you are undecided why don't you come for a brief chat in my studio? We can talk through what you are looking for over a coffee and biscuit. There is no obligation to book a shoot following our chat.
Please note these informal chats are strictly by prior appointment only.
